Incandescent
The Making Of

In my "Incandescent" Series I use multiple red, brown and blue layers, applied textures and transparent paint to create depth and movement. This series is an expression of energy and movement. By using bold colors and sharp lines the viewers eyes are constantly drawn across the canvas.

Step one: The Lokta Paper

Lokta is an extremely thin, silk-like paper has been used in Nepal since the 12th century, when it was used to write epic tales, to print mantra for use in prayer wheels, and for religious texts chanted by Buddhist monks. Until 1959, Nepal used this paper for all official government correspondence, and even today it is used for all of their land ownership papers (lal purja) and legal documents.

After painting the paper I let it dry...
